APICS

It´s been quite a long time since my last post, but this last few weeks have been hectic professionally and personally, obligations have kept me away from this blog, but fortunately I´m back and hopefully I´ll keep the same publication pace we were used to since I started this blog.

Today I will try to go into detail about what will be my next challenge, the APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification. For those of you that are not aware of this certification, here you have a brief introduction and several links worth visiting if you want to deepen into this internationally recognized certification.

APICS the Association for Operations Management was founded in 1957. It is a non-profit education organization, offering certification programs, training tools and networking opportunities.

APICS offers several professional designations: APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management), APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) and APICS CFPIM (Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management), all of them have been recognized among the best Supply Chain and logistics courses. In particular, the CPIM certification should provide you with the ability to understand and evaluate production and inventory activities within a company's global operations.

The APICS CPIM designation is earned upon successful completion of exams covering the following five modules.

-Basics of Supply Chain Management
-Master Planning of Resources
-Detailed Scheduling and Planning
-Execution and Control of Operations
-Strategic Management of Resources

Literally taken from the APICS website, after completing the course you should be able to;

- Increase your functional knowledge of production and inventory management
- Maximize ROI on the systems and technologies within your organization
- Master the tools you need to effectively manage global supply chain activities
- Gain knowledge to apply principles ERP software to cover various critical functions within your organization
-Earn customer satisfaction by delivering Lean/Just-in-Time products and services
- Enhance your credibility within your organization
- Create consistency and foster collaboration through best practices, common terminology, and corporate-wide communication.

It might not be easy, but I believe the effort will be worth, and this certification should help me to increase my understanding of any business from the logistics point of view.

Have a look at the official APICS website, worth having a look if you want to explore further the APICS programs.
